As summer continues across Franklin County, the Franklin County School District is preparing for another round of meal bundle distribution to help ensure local children have access to nutritious meals while school is out of session.
The next distribution event will take place Thursday, June 11, from 10 a.m. until noon at Franklin County High School.
Before the next round begins, district leaders are taking time to recognize the efforts of the Franklin County School Nutrition Team, whose work behind the scenes makes the program possible. Staff members have spent countless hours organizing, packing, and distributing seven-day meal bundles for hundreds of children throughout the summer.
School officials expressed their appreciation for the team’s dedication to serving local families and helping keep children fueled and healthy during the summer months.
The meal bundles are available to all children and teens ages 18 and under. Officials note that students must be present to receive a meal bundle, and distributions are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.
A total of 800 bundles will be available Thursday, with each package containing seven days’ worth of breakfast and lunch meals.
Students participating in the district’s Summer Learning Camp will receive their three-day weekend meal bundle directly at their learning site on Thursday and do not need to attend the Franklin County High School distribution.
The summer meal program continues to be an important resource for families across Franklin County, helping bridge the gap between school years while ensuring students have access to healthy meals during the break.
Families planning to participate are encouraged to arrive early, as supplies are limited to the available meal bundles.
