Franklin County Rebels Return to the Practice Field as Football Season Approaches

Winchester, TN – The TSSAA dead period has officially come to an end, signaling the unofficial start of football season across Tennessee. In Franklin County, the Rebels returned to the practice field this week as preparations ramp up for the 2026 season.

The Rebels opened the second half of summer workouts with a scrimmage against Fayetteville High School, giving Head Coach Chuck Reid and his staff an early opportunity to evaluate players, assess position battles, and begin implementing offensive and defensive schemes. The scrimmage marked the first chance for coaches to see the team compete together following the mandatory TSSAA break.

As the summer progresses, the Rebels will continue conditioning, participate in seven-on-seven competitions, and take part in additional scrimmages before officially opening the regular season. Each practice and offseason event will help shape the team’s depth chart and prepare players for the challenges that lie ahead.

With anticipation continuing to build throughout the community, Rebel fans are eagerly counting down the weeks until Friday night lights return to Franklin County. Coaches, players, and supporters alike are looking forward to another season of high school football as the Rebels continue their journey toward opening night.
