As he prepares to officially become Franklin County’s next Director of Schools on July 1, Dr. Roger Alsup is reaching out to students, parents, faculty, and staff with a message centered on collaboration, student achievement, and school safety.
The district released a welcome message this week from Dr. Alsup, who has served Franklin County Schools as both a high school principal and deputy director. In his message, Alsup reflects on his experience in the district while outlining the priorities he plans to carry into his new leadership role.
Dr. Alsup’s message to Franklin County families reads:
“Dear Franklin County Families,
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve as your new Director of Schools, officially starting July 1, 2026! Having worked closely with our community as a high school principal and deputy director, I have seen firsthand the dedication of our Franklin County teachers and the unlimited potential of our students.
While public education is changing, a high-quality education remains the most valuable asset for a young person’s lifelong success. Because the modern classroom brings new challenges, strong partnerships are more important than ever. I encourage parents and guardians to engage with teachers and administrators so we can work together as a team to support our students.
As we prepare for this transition, student and staff safety remain non-negotiable. Drawing from my background in military emergency preparedness, I will continue working closely with local first responders to ensure our campuses are safe and secure.
I look forward to visiting our schools, listening to your ideas, and collaborating with our families and staff to ensure every student has the tools they need to thrive.
Thank you for your support!”
Dr. Alsup officially begins his tenure as Director of Schools on July 1 and says he looks forward to building relationships with students, families, educators, and the community as Franklin County Schools prepares for another academic year.
