Sewanee Plans Free Theodore Roosevelt Program Sunday

Sewanee alumnus Joe Wiegand will portray Theodore Roosevelt during a free program Sunday, November 8, with donations supporting beds and blankets for local children.

The event begins at 3 p.m. in Naylor Auditorium in Gailor Hall at the University of the South. It is open to all ages and will explore Roosevelt’s life and legacy.

According to the university’s Homecoming and Reunion Weekend schedule, donations will support the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

Wiegand has portrayed Roosevelt in Medora, North Dakota, since 2012. His published travel schedule also lists a Sewanee homecoming appearance November 6–8.

The university labels its homecoming schedule a draft subject to change. Anyone planning to attend should check the latest listing before traveling.
