Franklin County readers will have a chance to meet authors and support library programs during a November lineup organized by the Friends of the Franklin County Library.
An author meet-and-greet is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library’s announcement lists 14 authors, with books available to buy and have signed.
The announcement does not specify admission information or a separate venue for the author event. Readers should confirm those details with the library before attending.
A silent auction of themed gift baskets will run throughout November, with proceeds supporting library programs.
The Friends group will also hold a mah-jongg fundraiser Monday, Nov. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Monroe Wedding & Boutique, 112 1st Ave. SE in Winchester. Tickets are $25, and all proceeds benefit the library. Beginners and experienced players are welcome.
Seating is limited. To reserve a place, organizers ask participants to text Mary Rabb at 931-327-0330.
Residents interested in helping the library can attend the Friends meeting Thursday, Nov. 12, at 5 p.m. at the library, 105 S. Porter St. The meeting is open to the community.
The group’s work extends beyond special events. Its background information reports that Book Nook sales have averaged about $3,000 a year. The organization has helped fund the Trail Tale book trail at Winchester City Park and raised money to furnish the downstairs children’s library.
The Friends also supports the community’s Trail of Tears observances and organizes library book signings.
