Sewanee’s Mountain Goat Course will host the Southern Athletic Association cross country championships Saturday, Oct. 31, bringing the conference title races to Franklin County.
The University of the South’s 2026 schedules list the championship meet at 10 a.m. Central. The men will compete over eight kilometers, while the women’s course covers six kilometers.
Saturday marks the Tigers’ return to their home course after hosting the Mountain Goat Invitational on Oct. 3. This time, conference championships are at stake for both programs.
Sewanee runner Jack Collins heads into championship week following his first individual victory of the season. He won the Fighting Scots Invitational in Knoxville on Oct. 16, completing the eight-kilometer race in 25 minutes, 20.4 seconds. His winning margin was 13.6 seconds.
That performance moved Collins to second in Sewanee’s all-time record book, behind All-American Kevin Harper. He had finished second twice earlier in the season.
Sewanee placed third among 12 teams at that meet. The Tigers finished with a team score of 85. Declan Oberlies finished eighth in 26:29.8, Price Lineweaver took 12th in 26:58.9, and Austin Colvin placed 15th in 27:08.5.
After Saturday’s conference meet, both Sewanee schedules list the NCAA South Region Championships for Nov. 14 at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Virginia.
Residents planning to follow Saturday’s competition can check Sewanee Athletics’ schedules for updates before heading to campus.
