FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Estill Springs Police Department announces that Charles Leon Trussell has pled guilty to two counts of Aggravated Burglary and two counts of Attempted Aggravated Arson stemming from a series of incidents investigated in 2025. Following his plea, Trussell was sentenced to serve 20 years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
The successful resolution of this case reflects the unwavering commitment of local law enforcement to protect the community and pursue justice for victims of violent and destructive crime.
Our officers worked diligently to piece together evidence, interview witnesses, and ensure a thorough and accurate case was presented to prosecutors.
The department extends special recognition to Fire Investigator/Officer Clint Grant, whose tireless investigative work was instrumental in identifying key evidence and advancing the case to its successful conclusion. Officer Grant’s persistence and attention to detail exemplify the highest standards of law enforcement professionalism.
The department also commends Sergeant Ashley Murphey for her steadfast dedication to justice and her perseverance throughout the investigation. Sgt. Murphey’s leadership, determination, and commitment to seeing the case through played a vital role in securing this outcome.
