Franklin County Prevention Coalition Encourages Community Awareness Ahead of Tennessee Kratom Ban Effective July 1

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WINCHESTER, Tenn. – The Franklin County Prevention Coalition (FCPC) is reminding residents that Tennessee’s statewide ban on certain kratom products will take effect on July 1, 2026. The coalition encourages individuals and families who may be affected by this change to seek information, support, and resources.

Kratom products have become increasingly available in convenience stores, vape shops, and other retail locations. While often marketed as a natural product, kratom can have significant health risks, including dependence, withdrawal symptoms, and dangerous interactions with other substances.

“Our goal is not to shame or judge anyone who has used kratom,” said FCPC Assistant Director and Drug Endangered Children Coordinator Felicia Kelsey. “We want our community to know that help is available. Recovery is possible, and there are resources for anyone who may be struggling.”

The coalition recognizes that some individuals may experience concerns about stopping kratom use and encourages residents to speak with healthcare providers before making changes to their routine.
