Winchester Municipal Airport Runway Temporarily Closed for Asphalt Repairs

Winchester Municipal Airport has temporarily closed Runway 18/36 as crews begin asphalt repairs, according to an update from the City of Winchester Mayor’s Office and airport officials.

Work on the runway began Thursday, August 13, with repairs expected to continue through Tuesday. Officials currently plan to reopen the runway on Wednesday, August 19.

During the closure, pilots should be aware that there will be no cleared taxiway landings. Mobile construction equipment will be operating on the taxiway throughout the duration of the project.

Airport officials are asking pilots and others utilizing Winchester Municipal Airport to plan accordingly while the improvements are underway.

The temporary closure is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve airport infrastructure and ensure the runway remains safe and operational for those utilizing the facility.
