Rebelettes Get Revenge, Roll Past Battle Creek 11-1 as Confidence Continues to Build

WINCHESTER, Tenn. — The Franklin County Rebelettes didn’t just win Friday night — they made a statement. After dropping a game earlier this season to Battle Creek, the Rebelettes responded with authority, rolling to an 11-1 victory at home in a performance that reflected a team growing in confidence and beginning to find its rhythm at the right time of year.

Coming off a district loss the day before, the bounce-back was immediate — and intentional. “When you lose, you’ve got to flush it, and you’ve got to set your sights to the next day,” head coach Kelly Kennedy said. “I think they did a good job of that.”

They did more than that. They controlled the game from the first swing. Battle Creek grabbed an early 1-0 lead, but Franklin County answered quickly as Kyleigh DeCamp launched a solo home run in the bottom of the first. That was just the beginning.

Leah Hardison followed with a two-run home run in the second, and Kaitlyn Montgomery added a two-run shot in the third as the Rebelettes steadily pulled away. The power surge isn’t a one-night thing anymore — it’s becoming part of this team’s identity.

Franklin County now has six different players with home runs this season, a sign of just how dangerous this lineup is becoming from top to bottom. Early in the season, this lineup leaned on a few key bats. Now? It’s different. Production has evened out across the order, making it much harder for opposing pitchers to find a way through. There’s no clear spot to relax — and that balance is turning this offense into a problem.

The only thing still developing is consistency. At times, this group can be feast or famine at the plate. But when they’re on, they’re overwhelming. Franklin County is now 7-3 in its last 10 games, and the trend is clear. They’ve outscored opponents 76-47 during that stretch — but that number doesn’t tell the full story. 31 of those runs allowed came in just three games. In the other seven? Just 16 total runs allowed. That’s a team that, when it’s locked in, is controlling both sides of the game.

Friday night was another example of that. The Rebelettes scored in every inning, combining power, situational hitting, and patience at the plate. Addison Partin added an RBI bunt that turned into a double, Victoria Nelson worked a bases-loaded walk, and Isabella Gilliam contributed a sacrifice fly as Franklin County closed things out early via the mercy rule. In the circle, Bella Smith delivered four strong innings, allowing just one run, while Nelson finished the job with a clean inning in relief.

The timing matters. “Our motto has just been, ‘Roll through April,’” Kennedy said. “They should be playing the best ball of the season right now, getting prepared for the district tournament.” And right now, they are. The confidence is building. The lineup is deep. And the pieces are starting to come together.

Franklin County improves to 14-12 on the season and will return home Thursday to face Lawrence County. If this stretch continues, the Rebelettes won’t just be playing well heading into postseason…

They’ll be dangerous.
