Rebelettes Rally Late, Carter Powers Franklin County Past Marshall County for First District Win

WINCHESTER, TN — The Franklin County Rebelettes showed toughness, growth, and a glimpse of what this program is becoming Thursday night, rallying past Marshall County 8-5 at home to secure their first district win of the season.

After falling behind early, Franklin County didn’t panic. Instead, they responded — and that response may say more about this team than the final score. Marshall County jumped out to a 2-0 lead through the first two innings and extended it to 4-1 in the third. But the Rebelettes kept chipping away. Addison Partin scored on a wild pitch, and freshman Addilyn Carter lifted a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 4-3.

After Marshall County pushed the lead to 5-3 in the fifth, Franklin County delivered the turning point. Leah Hardison led off the inning with a single, and Carter followed with a two-run home run to tie the game at 5-5 — her first big swing of the night. She wasn’t done. In the sixth inning, after Partin scored to give Franklin County the lead, Carter stepped up again and launched her second two-run home run of the game, finishing with five RBIs and completely flipping the momentum.

Hardison led the Rebelettes with three hits, while Partin and Kaitlyn Montgomery each added two. Franklin County finished with 12 hits as a team.

In the circle, Dalayna Marshall handled the bulk of the work, going six innings with seven strikeouts. Victoria Nelson came in during a tense seventh inning and slammed the door, striking out three batters — including the final out with the potential tying run at the plate. This wasn’t just a comeback. It was a snapshot of where this program is — and where it’s going. Franklin County is still managing its pitching staff early in the season, with one of its top arms, Bella Smith, dealing with injury. There’s no need to rush anything right now. The priority is clear: be ready for district tournament play.

In the meantime, players like Marshall and Nelson have stepped up and delivered quality innings, keeping the team competitive. More importantly, this roster is getting valuable experience. The Rebelettes are young — very young in key spots — and that youth has shown at times defensively. Thursday was no exception, as Franklin County committed four errors. But what’s equally clear is that the talent is there and it’s coming fast. If there was any doubt about the future of this program, freshman Addilyn Carter erased it.

Starting at shortstop and anchoring the middle of the lineup, Carter delivered one of the most impactful performances you’ll see all season — two home runs, five RBIs, and complete control of the biggest moments in the game. This is exactly the type of player Coach Kelly Kennedy has been talking about for years when referencing the young talent coming through Franklin County. While the young players are making headlines, the foundation is still being set by the upperclassmen.

Leaders like Bella Smith, Mollye Casey, and Kaitlyn Montgomery continue to provide stability, experience, and direction — helping bring along a roster that’s gaining confidence by the game. Coach Kennedy has been open about expectations — this group may still be a year away from being truly elite. But nights like Thursday show they may not be as far away as people think. If Thursday night was any indication, the Rebelettes are starting to find their identity — and it’s one built on resilience, emerging talent, and a future that looks very bright.

Franklin County improves to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in district play and will head to Collegedale on Friday for the Wildcat Classic, where they are scheduled to face Lebanon and The Howard School.
