Fayetteville Middle School’s after-school clubs and cheer team are receiving a combined $4,000 through a Utrust Trustee Choice Grant, Fayetteville City Schools announced Oct. 23.
Six clubs, badminton, gaming, yoga, book, spirit and media, will each receive $500. The remaining $1,000 will go to the cheer team.
The grant honors Pam Bryson, a Fayetteville City school board member who joined Utrust’s Board of Trustees in July 2023. The Trustee Choice program lets her designate funding for her school system.
Bryson selected the clubs to support students with different interests, including those who do not participate in traditional sports. In the district’s announcement, she described the groups as a way for students to discover hobbies and build friendships outside their regular classroom circles.
Utrust Administrator Dr. Dan Tollett praised Bryson’s support for students and school employees. She is one of two trustees representing Middle Tennessee on the organization’s board.
Utrust helps Tennessee school systems address unemployment-related challenges and operates programs recognizing school employees. All three Fayetteville City schools participate in its Appreciation Program, which involves students in recognizing the people who support their education.
