Founded in 2023, The Players League has quickly grown into a respected collegiate summer baseball organization. Its flagship Old North State League in North Carolina features 24 teams, and more than ten former players advanced to professional baseball in 2025 alone.
League officials cited Tullahoma’s strong community support, quality facilities, and baseball tradition as key factors in selecting the city.
The Test Pilots will play home games at historic Grider Stadium, with their inaugural season set to begin in June. Playoffs are scheduled for late July and early August.
As a collegiate wood-bat summer league team, the Test Pilots will feature top collegiate players from across the country while providing affordable, family-friendly entertainment throughout the summer months.
Volunteer State League Commissioner Brett Thaler said the league was intentionally designed with shorter travel distances, community-focused events, and partnerships with local businesses and youth programs.
The team will be coached by former Major League pitcher Bryan Morris, who also serves as head baseball coach at Tullahoma High School.
City officials say the team’s name ties into Tullahoma’s rich aviation and military training history, connecting baseball with the community’s longstanding identity.
