WINCHESTER, Tenn. — What was originally scheduled as Franklin County’s regular-season basketball finale has transformed into something even more meaningful.
On Friday night at 6 p.m., Franklin County High School will host a Pink Out Alumni Game, featuring current Rebels and Rebelettes facing off against former FCHS standouts. The evening will also include Senior Night recognition between games and admission by donation, with all proceeds benefiting the family of Gracen Baggett to assist with medical expenses.
Earlier this week on The Starting Lineup on ESPN Radio Winchester, Assistant Rebelette Basketball Coach and Gracen’s soccer coach Kent Bean joined the show to discuss the event. Bean spoke about Baggett’s impact not just within Franklin County, but across the region.
“She’s one of the fiercest competitors you’ll find,” Bean said, noting the respect Baggett has earned from opposing programs. That respect has been evident in the outpouring of support from neighboring schools. Tullahoma and Coffee County have each hosted Purple Out games in her honor, while Huntland players have worn purple ribbons in their hair as a sign of solidarity.
Head Rebelette Basketball Coach Darrell Jolley also appeared on The Starting Lineup alongside Bean Friday morning. Jolley reflected on the resilience of his team over the last 10 days since Baggett, the team’s leading scorer, was admitted to the hospital.
“It’s been tough on the girls,” Jolley said, praising how the team has handled the emotional challenge while continuing to compete. He echoed Bean’s comments about the level of respect Baggett commands throughout the area and how her competitive spirit has left a lasting impression beyond Franklin County.
Friday’s Pink Out Alumni Game now represents more than basketball. It’s a celebration of seniors, a reunion of Rebel greats, and a community rallying around one of its own.
