The Franklin County Rebels put together one of their most complete performances of the season Monday night, knocking off Marshall County 76–65 at home for their first district win of the year and their eighth victory overall.
Franklin County came out aggressive on both ends, stayed out of foul trouble, and closed the first quarter on a 9–1 run to take a 17–11 lead. That early momentum carried into the second quarter, as the Rebels continued to shoot efficiently and stretched the advantage to double digits, heading into halftime up 40–29.
The Rebels’ defense set the tone throughout the night. Franklin County limited one of Marshall County’s top scoring threats, Keadryn Cross, holding him scoreless, while forcing the Tigers to rely heavily on Ke’Marion Allen and Jameelan Johnson. Allen finished with 37 points and Johnson added 17, but the Rebels were able to outshoot the Tigers and control the tempo for most of the game.
Memphis Foster caught fire in the middle stretch, pouring in 18 of his 20 points during the second and third quarters. Brandon Walker added two timely three-pointers in the third, helping Franklin County push the lead to 20 late in the quarter. The Rebels took a 58–42 advantage into the fourth quarter and briefly built the lead to as many as 21.
Marshall County responded with a 13–0 run early in the final quarter, trimming the lead to as little as six. But Franklin County answered at the free-throw line, where Brody Goff went 7-for-8 in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.
Walker led the Rebels with 22 points, followed by Foster with 20 and Goff with 16. Grant Parkerson scored eight points, Austin Heath and Monte Johnson finished with four each, and Jayden Cisco added two.
With the win, Franklin County improved to 8–14 overall and 1–3 in district play. The Rebels will travel to Lawrence County on Tuesday, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
