Franklin County Committees To Review School Reports, Employee Handbook Next Week

Franklin County committees will meet next week to hear school and Extension updates and consider changes to the county employee handbook, according to newly posted meeting notices.

The county commission’s School Committee meets Monday, November 9, at 5 p.m. in the Board of Education board room. Its agenda calls for nominating a chairman, discussing the meeting schedule and considering minutes from July 13.

Director reports are listed under new business. The agenda also includes communications, old business and an opportunity for public comments. It does not identify specific school projects or spending requests for consideration.

Also Monday at 5 p.m., the Agricultural Committee for Franklin County’s University of Tennessee/Tennessee State University Extension will meet at the Extension Office, 330 Joyce Lane in Winchester.

An October 30 notice signed by County Extension Director Mary Beth Henley lists an Extension update and other business as necessary. No specific funding request or program change is described in that notice.

The two Monday meetings are scheduled at the same time in different locations.

On Thursday, November 12, the county’s Health, Insurance, Retirement and Welfare Committee will meet at 5 p.m. in the Finance Conference Room at the county Annex.

Members are scheduled to discuss and consider approval of a calendar for 2027 and changes to the employee handbook. The agenda does not spell out the proposed handbook revisions or identify particular calendar dates.

That committee also plans to nominate a chairman, consider minutes from December 11, 2025, and receive public comments. The listed items are scheduled for consideration; the notice does not establish that any changes have been approved.

Residents planning to attend should check the county calendar for updates.
