The Tennessee Titans have traded defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears, who announced the acquisition Thursday, October 29.
Tennessee receives Chicago’s first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, along with a fourth-round selection in 2027. The Bears receive Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round pick, according to Chicago’s announcement.
The deal ends Simmons’ run with the team that drafted him 19th overall out of Mississippi State in 2019. The 29-year-old had spent his entire NFL career in Tennessee.
Simmons earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2025 after recording a career-high 11 sacks, 17 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. His sack total surpassed Jurrell Casey’s previous single-season mark for a defensive tackle during the franchise’s Titans era.
The move comes just months after Tennessee announced another contract extension for Simmons on June 19. At that time, the team described him as a four-time Pro Bowl selection, five-time captain and three-time recipient of its Community Man of the Year honor.
As recently as Wednesday, Simmons told reporters he had not heard about a trade from his agent or the organization and was focused on his work with Tennessee.
The Titans are 1–6 following Sunday’s 27–24 loss to Cleveland.
Tennessee’s next game is Sunday, November 1, at Cincinnati. Kickoff is scheduled for noon Central at Paycor Stadium.
