Mary Ann McMillan

December 18, 1934 – October 23, 2026

Maryann McMillan, age 91, of Winchester, TN, passed away on October 23, 2026, at Highpoint Health. Maryann was born and raised in Athens, Georgia, to the late John Fowler and Carolyn Fowler Diletto. She graduated from business college in Atlanta, Georgia. Maryann met the love of her life, “Smitty” Smith McMillan, and the couple later moved to Tullahoma in the 1950s, where Smitty was employed at Arnold Air Force Base. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their four children, David, Paul, Carolyn, and Mark. Maryann was a woman who was truly full of life, with a contagious sense of humor and a personality that could brighten any room. She never met a stranger and had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved. Whether sharing a funny story, enjoying a long conversation on the telephone, or recounting one of her many adventures with her animated storytelling, Maryann always knew how to bring laughter to those around her. Her quick wit and playful personality will forever be remembered, especially her favorite saying, “I’m out of date, overweight, and too late.” A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Maryann took great pride in her family and treasured every moment spent with those she loved. She had a special place in her heart for babies and never passed up an opportunity to hold one. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and an open invitation to anyone who stopped by. Maryann also enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, and her family knew better than to call during her shows. Maryann had a compassionate heart and spent many years caring for individuals with disabilities. Her kindness and willingness to help others were a reflection of the love she carried throughout her life. She was also a woman of strong Christian faith who enjoyed sharing her love for the Lord and witnessing to others. She was actively involved in the Baptist church in Winchester and later at First Baptist Church of Decherd, where she especially enjoyed singing in the choir. Her love for music also led her to sing with the Sweet Adelines for many years. Above all, Maryann will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her devotion to her family, her welcoming spirit, and her wonderful sense of humor. She had a gift for making ordinary moments unforgettable and leaving those around her with a smile. The laughter she shared, the stories she told, and the love she gave so freely will remain cherished memories in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, Maryann was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Smith “Smitty” McMillan; children, David (Donna) McMillan and Paul McMillan; stepfather, Tony DiLetto; granddaughter, Jennifer DeBoard; sister, Linda Garner and infant brother, Louis Fowler. She is survived by her loving children, Carolyn (Ray) Wenger and Mark (Tanya) McMillan; siblings, Dorothy (Julian) Suggs and Joe DiLetto; daughter-in-law, Denise McMillan; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 AM.
