Franklin County High School resumed normal operations Friday morning after investigators determined there was no active or credible threat to campus, according to an October 23 release from Franklin County Schools.
Heightened security will remain in place for the rest of the school day and through Friday night’s football game, the district said.
The response began around 9 a.m., when school administrators and school resource officers received reports of a potential threat. Administrators established a secure perimeter as a precaution, and students remained in their assigned classrooms while officials investigated.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office sent additional officers to assist school personnel. According to the district, administrators and investigators identified the students involved and determined the reported concern did not pose an active or credible threat.
The secure perimeter was then lifted, allowing normal school operations to resume.
The district’s release did not identify the students, describe the reported threat or announce any arrests or disciplinary action. It also did not detail the additional security measures.
The district credited recent emergency planning and training with helping coordinate the response. Its statement pointed to a school safety tabletop exercise involving district leadership, local law enforcement and emergency management partners.
School officials said they take every threat report seriously and will continue staff training and coordination with local emergency agencies.
Franklin County is scheduled to host Tullahoma at 7 p.m. Friday. The district said the additional security through the game is a precaution intended to reassure students, staff and the community.
