Franklin County, TN – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has announced the results of a two-month narcotics investigation that led to multiple arrests, the seizure of illegal drugs and more than $25,000 in cash, following allegations that drugs were being sold to school-aged children in the area.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, investigators received information that residents of a local home were selling illegal drugs to school-aged youth. The department’s narcotics team launched an investigation and gathered enough evidence to obtain a search warrant for the residence.
On Monday, July 27, deputies executed the search warrant and recovered approximately four ounces of suspected mushroom edibles, a Schedule I controlled substance, along with approximately one and a half pounds of suspected marijuana and THC products. Investigators also seized two cell phones and $4,019.69 in U.S. currency.
As a result of the investigation, Hayden George Ray and Destin Jeremiah Ray were each charged with:
- Manufacture, Sale, and Delivery of a Schedule I Controlled Substance
- Manufacture, Sale, and Delivery of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance
- Felony Drug Paraphernalia
- Maintaining a Dwelling for Drug Purposes
- Violation of a Drug-Free School Zone
Using evidence obtained during the initial search, investigators secured a second search warrant for another residence believed to be connected to the two suspects. That warrant was executed on Tuesday, July 28, resulting in the seizure of approximately two ounces of suspected marijuana and THC products, along with $21,047 in U.S. currency.
The Sheriff’s Office said the arrests represent only a portion of the narcotics team’s recent enforcement efforts. While officials noted they are unable to discuss several active investigations, they highlighted additional seizures made during the past two months that are unrelated to the Ray investigation.
Those seizures include 24 grams of suspected fentanyl, 11 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, 205 prescription medications—including Schedule II, III, IV, and legend drugs—approximately two pounds of suspected marijuana and THC products, as well as three vehicles and three firearms.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office credited its narcotics team for its continued work investigating illegal drug activity throughout the county and emphasized that several investigations remain ongoing.
