Franklin County drivers will encounter new roadwork next week as resurfacing begins on State Route 15 and utility crews move onto a section of Old Tullahoma Road.
Daily lane closures for SR-15 resurfacing are scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 19, between Belvidere Lane and Veterans Memorial Drive. One lane in each direction will remain open, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s Oct. 16 construction report.
Tinsley Asphalt is listed as the contractor. TDOT’s weekly notice does not provide a completion date for that resurfacing work.
On Tuesday, Oct. 20, utility work is scheduled to begin on SR-130, also known as Old Tullahoma Road, between Audubon Road and Bible Crossing Road. Flaggers will assist with lane closures in both directions from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the listed work period, which runs through Nov. 20.
Drivers approaching the utility work should slow down and be ready to stop. Trucks, signs, flaggers and traffic-control barrels or cones will be present.
The report also lists continuing utility-related flagging on South College Street at Second Avenue Northwest through Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Before heading out, motorists can check TDOT SmartWay for highway incidents, construction activity and weather-related road conditions. The service also provides traffic-camera views and information from overhead message signs.
Tennessee’s 511 telephone service provides statewide travel information. TDOT advises drivers to check conditions before leaving or let a passenger retrieve the information, rather than using a phone while driving. Motorists should obey reduced work-zone speed limits and use caution around crews.
