A Trail of Tears commemorative walk is planned for Saturday, October 24, in Winchester, with participants following a 0.7-mile route from Old Cowan Road Park to the Franklin County Library.
The walk will depart at 11:45 a.m. from the park at 200 Wilson Street. It will end at the library, 105 S. Porter Street, according to the event announcement posted on the library’s website.
The announcement describes the gathering as a time to remember the Trail of Tears. It says the annual Franklin County walk began in 2018 and is dedicated to the memory of Floyd Ayers for his contributions to this and other Native American projects in the county.
The poster directs residents to the TN Trail of Tears Association on Facebook for updates. The library’s phone number is 931-967-3706.
