Franklin County households will have a chance to recycle hard-to-dispose-of items and donate usable goods during a free Recycling Roundup at Nissan’s Decherd Powertrain Assembly Plant on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026.
The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gate 5, 651 Gary Edwards Drive in Decherd. Nissan and the Tennessee Environmental Council are presenting the roundup, which is open to Tennessee residents.
Organizers are accepting residential items only. Business materials and household hazardous waste will not be accepted, according to the event flyer.
The announced recycling categories include electronics, household batteries, ink cartridges, mattresses and box springs, glass, scrap metal, tires and rims, cardboard and paper. Medication collection and paper shredding are also planned.
Residents should review the organizer’s detailed collection list before loading a vehicle. Item limits and condition requirements apply, and acceptance varies by material. The Tennessee Environmental Council asks residents to tape battery terminals before drop-off and leave leaking or lead-acid batteries at home.
Donations are also being collected for local and regional nonprofits. The flyer lists books, pet supplies, medical equipment, home goods, clothing, shoes, sports equipment, board games, puzzles and art supplies.
Organizations identified on the flyer include Franklin County Friends of the Library, Grace Center of Hope and R.U.F.F., the Redemption Underdog Freedom Fund.
Nissan described the upcoming collection as its first Recycling Roundup for the Decherd community in information provided to the station.
A full list of accepted materials and restrictions is available on the Tennessee Environmental Council’s Nissan Decherd Recycling Roundup webpage. Questions may be directed to recycle@tectn.org or 615-379-8259, the contact number printed on the event flyer.
