Franklin County residents looking for ways to improve home comfort and reduce energy use can attend a free Duck River Electric workshop Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Decherd.
The church is at 703 W. Broad St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Central, and the program begins at 6 p.m. Duck River Electric says the workshop is expected to last about two hours.
A DREMC representative will present information about improvements that can make heating and cooling more efficient. The program also covers rebates and incentives available through TVA EnergyRight, giving households information to consider when planning energy-efficiency upgrades.
The evening includes a light supper. Participating households will receive a free Home Energy Starter Kit, with a limit of one kit per household. DREMC’s event announcement says the kits will be sent by mail.
Duck River Electric and TVA EnergyRight are sponsoring the workshop as part of a five-location October series across the cooperative’s service area. Decherd is the Franklin County stop on the schedule.
DREMC asks participants to reserve a seat because space is limited. Residents can review the workshop information and enrollment link at dremc.com/workshop or call 931-680-5880 to ask about attendance. Current seat availability should be confirmed with the cooperative before traveling.
The online enrollment form requests a DREMC service address, a preferred telephone number and the number of people attending from the household. The cooperative says a team member will contact registrants to verify participation.
For residents unable to attend in Decherd, the published schedule also lists a workshop Tuesday, Oct. 20, at DREMC’s Shelbyville office, 1411 Madison St., beginning at 6 p.m. Reservations and availability should be checked with DREMC.
