Vernon Edward Miller, age 81 of Belvidere, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Sherwood on December 5, 1944, to the late Vernon Miller and Dorthy Holt Miller. Vernon was a contractor and built many homes under the Vernon Miller Home Builders banner. He was also involved with many other companies and corporations, including Tennessee Valley Ready Mix, The Bank of Tullahoma, First Community Finance, Don’s Supply, Boulevard Liquor, Buddy’s Market, Papa Dogs Bar & Grill, and many more. In his down time, Vernon loved to hunt and fish, play cards, cheer on the Atlanta Braves, and spend time with his family and friends. Vernon loved the outdoors and spent endless hours enjoying the beauty of the farm he cherished so much. He loved his many trips to Tunica, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, and the Florida Keys. Vernon was a self-made man that was proud of his heritage and would do anything to help anyone. Vernon grew up attending the Epiphany Mission Episcopal Church in Sherwood and later attended the Estill Springs Nazarene Church. In addition to his parents, Vernon is preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Miller; siblings, Donald Miller, Jimmy Miller, Crawford Miller, Patricia Nelson, Mack Miller, and mother of son, Cheri Garner Miller. Vernon is survived by his son Clifton (Joanna) Miller; grandchildren, Justin (Angela) Miller, M.D., Brandon (Margaret) Miller, M.D., Jillian (Lewis) Purdue, J.D.; great-grandchildren, Judah Miller, Ada Miller, Henry Miller, Eli Miller, Evelyn Miller, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 11am-1pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Memorial Service will follow at 1pm on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
