Rebelettes Fall to Siegel 12-2 as Lady Stars Pull Away Late

The Franklin County Rebelettes fell to the Siegel Lady Stars 12-2 on the road Monday, dropping their ninth game of the season.

Franklin County came out swinging early, jumping in front with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Kyleigh DeCamp and Briley Apicella each delivered RBI singles to give the Rebelettes a quick 2-0 lead.

Siegel answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning, matching the Rebelettes with two runs of their own to even things up at 2-2.

The game shifted in the middle innings as the Lady Stars took advantage of Franklin County miscues. Siegel plated three runs in the third and added two more in the fourth to build a 7-2 advantage.

After the strong opening inning, the Rebelettes struggled to generate offense the rest of the way. Hadley Jolley broke the drought with a leadoff single in the fifth, but Franklin County was unable to push a run across and could not cut into the deficit.

Siegel put the game out of reach in the bottom of the sixth, erupting for five runs to trigger the run rule and seal the 10-run victory.

Victoria Nelson worked the first 3 2/3 innings for the Rebelettes, recording four strikeouts while allowing five hits. Leah Hardison pitched in relief, going 1 2/3 innings.

With the loss, Franklin County falls to 6-9 on the season.

The Rebelettes will look to bounce back Tuesday as they travel to Lawrence County High School. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
