Vera Mae Cawthron

Vera Mae Cawthron, age 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 25, 2026. She is the daughter of Clyde and Edith Vera McBee Cawthron. Born in Wartrace, TN, and graduated from Tullahoma High School in 1965. Vera then graduated from Bedford Country Hospital School of Nursing in late 1967, being one of the first nurses upon the opening of Harton Hospital. She was in different fields of nursing over 40 years until she retired.
Vera was an avid Elvis fan, collecting all Elvis memorabilia, making many trips to Graceland and an expert on all Elvis trivia.
Vera was a long-time member of Grundy Street Church of Christ and lived her faith by reading the Bible, especially Psalms and Proverbs.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Billy Joe Cawthron and Harold Cawthron, both from Tullahoma. Sister Pauline Cawthron Payne and brother-n-law Jim Payne of Mt Juliet and nephew Randy Payne.
Vera is survived by sister-n-law Donna Cawthron, Soddy Daisy, TN, two nephews, Joe Carter (Ginger), Huntsville, AL and Andy Payne (Keela), Kodiak, TN. Two nieces, Lynnette Davis (Jimmy), Tullahoma and Kim Greenwood (Lee), Franklin, TN. Six great nephews, Jared Carter, Tullahoma, Dr. Dalton Greenwood (Sarah), Grand Rapids, MI, Parker Greenwood, Nashville, TN, Aiden, Brendon and Cian Payne, Kodiak, TN. Great niece, Kristen Harris, Baltimore, MD and great, great nephew Theodore Greenwood, Grand Rapids, MI. Uncles Billy McBee (Carol), Swanee, TN, Sammy McBee (Judy) Swanee, TN, Aunt Violet Green (Pete) Sherwood, TN, cousin, Lee McBee (Christine), Williamsburg, VA.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
