Drivers approaching the downtown square in Winchester from 41A headed south will need to be aware of a recent traffic pattern change implemented by TDOT.
According to a representative with Downtown Winchester and information shared on the City’s Facebook page, the lane configuration coming up the boulevard onto the square has been adjusted. The right lane is now designated for right turns only, while the left lane is for traffic entering the square.
In addition to the lane changes, TDOT has also widened the turn from the square onto the boulevard. The adjustment is intended to help vehicles make that turn more safely and improve traffic flow in the area.
Motorists traveling through downtown are encouraged to use caution and pay close attention to the new lane designations as drivers get used to the updated pattern.
The change is one drivers may want to keep in mind during busier parts of the day, especially for those who regularly travel into downtown Winchester from the south.
