Orvie B. Haney, age 71 of Cowan, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. Orvie was born on March 24, 1955, in Sherwood, Tennessee to the late John Martin and Sally Ann (Guess) Simmons. She retired from Monteagle Nursing Home as a housekeeper, where her bright smile brought comfort to those she met each day. Orvie attended Our Father’s House in Cowan, when she was able. In her spare time, she enjoyed looking for butterflies in her yard, watching tv, and spending quality time with her four-legged best friends, Susie and Bandit. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Sam D. Haney; siblings, Floyd, Billy, John L., Jimmy, George D., Raymond, Rachel, Sue, Jean, Clara Bell, and Beth. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Campbell; son, Teddy Haney; granddaughters, Anna Campbell and Janet Campbell; 1 great-grandson, sisters, Sue Shetters, Virginia Garner, and Marie Perry; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 10:00am – 2:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with funeral service immediately following at 2:00pm. Interment will follow in Cowan Montgomery Cemetery.
