Huntland’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen will consider police staffing and a series of department policies when it meets Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Huntland Community Center, according to the town’s official meeting notice and agenda.
The police department’s portion of the agenda includes discussion and votes on hiring a full-time officer and establishing a pay rate if the candidate is hired. The posted agenda does not specify a proposed pay rate.
Board members are also scheduled to consider policies covering police body-camera use, mutual-aid agreements, take-home police vehicles and body armor, along with police standard operating procedures. These are proposals for consideration; the agenda does not establish that they have been approved.
City Park requests are included under unfinished business, with lighting and cameras listed alongside a property-maintenance inspection update. The posted agenda does not provide locations within the park, cost estimates or a proposed installation schedule.
Financial matters include discussion and a vote concerning contracted finance services and/or the City Recorder position, as well as possible participation in Tennessee’s Drug Free Workplace Program.
Other listed business includes a resolution concerning surplus water meters, a request to address the board about a $60 service charge on repairs, and a Lee Lane storm-drain item. Department reports include water, sewer, sanitation, streets, police and fire, followed by an information-technology progress report.
Tuesday’s meeting is listed as a regular council meeting. The town’s meeting page and the agenda both identify the Huntland Community Center as the location.
