Franklin County Rebels Walk It Off Against Giles County, Stay Near Top of District Standings

WINCHESTER, TN — The Franklin County Rebels delivered a much-needed statement win Tuesday night, defeating Giles County 2-1 in walk-off fashion and continuing to solidify their position near the top of the District 8-3A standings.

After falling 2-1 to Giles County on the road just one day earlier, the Rebels responded with resilience and execution, winning a tight late-game battle that showcased growth in one of their biggest areas—closing out close games.

With the score tied at one in the bottom of the eighth inning, Taylor Austin came through with the game-winning sacrifice fly, lifting Franklin County to the dramatic victory.

The Rebels continue to lean on strong pitching, which has been a consistent bright spot even during a recent four-game skid. Avery Jackson was outstanding, tossing six shutout innings while allowing five hits and striking out seven. Cameron Denton provided key relief to help secure the win.

Offensively, Franklin County is beginning to show signs of progress. Layton Jones led the Rebels with a 2-for-4 performance, while Ayden Hodosi drove in a run with an RBI single in the fifth inning. Austin added the game-winner, as both he and Hodosi finished with one RBI.

Giles County tied the game in the seventh inning, but Franklin County’s pitching staff limited further damage despite the Bobcats’ aggressive base running and eight total hits.

With the win, the Rebels improve to 3-1 in district play, currently sitting second behind Lawrence County in the early standings. As the season progresses, Franklin County’s combination of improving confidence, chemistry, and reliable pitching makes them a team to watch in District 8-3A.

The Rebels will look to carry that momentum into Thursday’s road matchup at Smyrna, first pitch is at 6:00 p.m.
