Clyde Ernest Dawson Jr., age 85 of Decherd, Tennessee, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 27, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born in Jasper, Tennessee, to the late Clyde E. Dawson Sr. and Berthaline Elizabeth Haggard Dawson.
Before retiring, Ernest worked as a machinist at AEDC. He was a member of the Church of God and spent many years helping promote Southern Gospel music in the community. He also enjoyed camping, gardening, birdwatching, and time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ray Tucker; brother, Ronald Dawson; and sisters, Sue VanAllman and Elizabeth Carter.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Sadie Dawson; son, Greg (Cara) Dawson; daughters, Renea (Chad) Quinn and Kristi (Dusty) Wilson; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Melvin (Francis) Dawson, Royce Dawson, and Phillip (Danette) Dawson; sisters, Oma Dawson and Carolyn Turney; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Avenue NW, Winchester, TN 37398, assisted the family.
