Annie “Ethelene” Stephens, age 68 of Cowan, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville surrounded by her loving family. A Franklin County native, she was born in Winchester to the late Robert and Gertrude (Henshaw) King. Before retirement, Annie worked at Linear Clothing and treasured time with her family and her church family at Cowan Apostolic Church of Restoration. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Patricia King Lawrence, and nephews, Stacy Goff and Justin Goff. She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, James “Howard” Stephens Sr.; sons, James H. “Jamie” Stephens Jr. (Andrea) and Dewayne Stephens (Kristyn); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings and extended family. Visitation was held September 7 at Cowan Apostolic Church of Restoration, with funeral services there on September 8.
