Franklin County residents will have an opportunity to comment on two proposed zoning changes Monday, Oct. 26, when county commissioners meet at 6 p.m. in the courtroom at the Franklin County Courthouse in Winchester.
The requests concern property on Greenhaw Road and off Hurricane Road. Both are scheduled for county commission consideration, but neither hearing notice announces final approval.
On Greenhaw Road, Clifton Miller, acting as agent for property owner Tinsley Properties LLC, is seeking a change from Agricultural zoning to I-1, Industrial District, Special. The request concerns part of parcel 22.01 on property map 47 in the 10th Civil District.
The Regional Planning Commission did not recommend approval of the Greenhaw Road request, according to the hearing notice. The notice does not explain that recommendation or describe a specific development planned for the property.
The second request, submitted by property owner Andrew Welch, would change parcel 7.09 on property map 23 from Agricultural to R-2, General Residential. The property is off Hurricane Road in the 7th Civil District. The Planning Commission recommended approval of that request.
Affected residents may appear in person or be represented by an agent or petition to express support or opposition, according to the notices. The proposed amendments are available for review in the Planning and Zoning Department, Room 109 in the courthouse basement. The department’s phone number is 931-967-0981.
Monday’s agenda also includes county and school budget amendments, proposed multiyear school lease-purchase and maintenance agreements, and a resolution concerning a state recycling-equipment grant. The agenda does not list dollar amounts for those items.
Separately, the county’s online calendar marks the Tuesday, Oct. 27, Regional Planning Commission meeting as canceled. No reason or replacement date is listed.
