Huntland Plans Hornet Night With STEM Activities and Parent Meetings

HUNTLAND — Huntland School will host Hornet Night on Tuesday, Oct. 20, combining afternoon STEM activities with parent meetings and the school’s parent-teacher conference day.

Activities in the courtyard are scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. The school’s announcement invites families to explore, create, test and discover through its STEM programming.

Two grade-specific parent meetings begin at 5 p.m. A third-grade parent retention meeting will be held in Mrs. Pogue’s classroom, while a senior parent meeting will take place in the cafeteria. Families with children in both groups should note that the meetings are scheduled at the same time.

Food trucks will be on campus throughout the day, according to the event schedule. The announcement does not list vendors or menu prices.

Parent-teacher conferences at Huntland are scheduled from 9 to 11:15 a.m. and from 1 to 6:15 p.m. Those are Huntland’s announced hours; families at other Franklin County schools should check their own school’s schedule.

Tuesday is a no-student-attendance day across the Franklin County School District. Hornet Night’s afternoon activities and parent meetings are separate from a regular school day.

Huntland School is at 400 Gore St. Families with questions about Hornet Night or conferences can contact the school at 931-361-0300.
