Arthur Douglas Smith, age 84, of Decherd, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Monroe, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Johnnie and Lila (Reagan) Smith. Arthur served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and later worked for PM Construction for more than twenty-five years. He enjoyed working on the family farm, tending horses, spending time in the mountains, coon hunting, playing solitaire and being with family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Fannie Gentry, and brothers, Billy Smith and Albert Smith. Arthur is survived by his wife of forty years, Tammy Smith; son, Douglas Justin Smith; daughter, Tracy Lauren (Kevin) Cox; granddaughters, Madilynn Morris and Paisley Smith; nephews, Jimmy Smith and Johnny Smith; and other relatives and friends. A private family service was held.
