WINCHESTER, TN — Franklin County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of two
seasoned educators to administrative leadership roles within the district. Dr. Amanda Monroe has been named Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at Franklin County High School (FCHS), and Mrs. Michelle Bishop has been appointed Assistant Principal at Decherd Elementary School (DES). These appointments reflect the district’s commitment to academic excellence and leadership stability.


Dr. Amanda Monroe – Franklin County High School
Dr. Amanda Monroe joins the administrative team at FCHS with 17 years of diverse classroom experience spanning middle school, high school, and junior college. As the new Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Monroe will oversee the academic framework and instructional strategies that drive student achievement.
Throughout her career, Dr. Monroe has demonstrated exceptional leadership as a department chair and faculty advisor. Her dedication to the profession was recently recognized with a 2025 nomination for the prestigious LifeChanger of the Year Award, highlighting her ability to build strong rapport with colleagues and foster student success. Dr. Monroe is characterized by her high expectations and a genuine passion for lifelong learning.
Mrs. Michelle Bishop – Decherd Elementary School
Mrs. Michelle Bishop brings 23 years of specialized experience, all with Franklin County
Schools, to Decherd Elementary. Her background includes roles as an RTI (Response to
Intervention) coach, Learning Loss Coordinator, and classroom teacher at both the elementary and middle school levels. Her career has been defined by a passion for empowering teachers and ensuring student-centered decision-making.
The DES community welcomes Mrs. Bishop’s leadership and her “students-first” philosophy
as she joins Principal Fortier in leading the “All Stars.”
