Virginia Carolyn Tate Brown of Manchester, Tennessee passed from this life on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, Tennessee at the age of 82 years.
A native of Decherd, Tennessee, she is the daughter of the late Melvin D. and Elsie Wilkes Tate. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Brown, brother, Ribert Lee “Buddy” Tate, sist5ers Elsie “Sally” Mason, and Margaret “Maggie” Elliott.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Manchester, Tennessee. Friends may visit the funeral home with the family on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
Virginia was a football fan, and she especially liked the Tennessee Vols. She was a “Nanny” to all. Her heart was so big, and she would often do without for the sake of others. She was forever taking people in and giving them a place to stay and get back on their feet. She loved jigsaw puzzles and was a wonderful baker. She owned and operated Nanny’s Bakery for many years. She was a singer and songwriter and enjoyed her many years of service to the Lord. She will be forever missed.
His survivors include her children, Richard (Suzi Sims) Brown of Manchester, Tennessee, Robin (Randy) Lovvorn of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, grandchildren, Seth (Brooklyn) Brown of Manchester, Tennessee, Stephanie “Nikki” Brown of Lynchburg, Tennessee and six great grandchildren.
