February 21, 1959 – April 2, 2026
William “Bill” Copes Jr., age 67, of Flintville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at Highpoint Health in Winchester, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was a man of quiet strength and gentle spirit, known for his deep love of animals and his appreciation for life’s simple, meaningful moments. In 1992, he married his soulmate, Mary Jane, and together they shared 32 wonderful years of marriage. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler who participated in many leagues and tournaments, a pastime that brought him both joy and camaraderie. A truly gifted carpenter, he later found great fulfillment in woodworking and wood burning, skillfully transforming raw materials into works of art with his own two hands. His workshop was his sanctuary—a place where creativity and craftsmanship came together in perfect harmony.
He found peace in fishing and took pride in every project he completed, always striving for excellence in his work. Bill dedicated many years of his life as a maintenance supervisor for a healthcare facility in Philadelphia and later as the owner of his own pest control business. His strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family were evident in everything he did.
In 2015, Bill retired to Tennessee, where he spent his later years doing what he loved most—working in his garage, creating, building, and enjoying the quiet life he had earned. It was there, surrounded by the tools of his trade and the things he loved, that he found his greatest contentment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Copes of Decherd, Tennessee; his brother, Wayne Copes; his daughter, Celeste Ramirez; and his grandson, Colin Dougherty.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Mary Jane Copes of Flintville, Tennessee; his sister, Dottie Ann Bauhof of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and his brother, Ed Copes of Manchester, Tennessee.
He is also survived by his children: William Copes III (Kindra) of Elora, Tennessee; Bobbie Jo Copes of Decherd, Tennessee; Wayne Copes (Krista) of Prospect Park, Pennsylvania; Barbie Copes (Ron) of Essington, Pennsylvania; Johnny Copes of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Tina Copes of Spring City, Tennessee; and Lisa Amoroso (Danny) of Cape May, New Jersey.
He is further survived by 20 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. He will be cremated and returned to his family.
Bill will be remembered for his kind heart, his steady hands, and the love he poured into both his work and his family. His legacy lives on in the pieces he created and the memories he leaves behind.
