Rebelettes Take Down Lawrence County 7-3, Snap Skid Behind Balanced Effort

The Franklin County Rebelettes defeated the Lawrence County Lady Wildcats 7-3 on the road Tuesday, picking up their seventh win of the season and snapping a three-game losing streak.

Franklin County got on the board early as Dalayna Marshall delivered an RBI single in the top of the first, but Lawrence County answered in the bottom half of the inning to even the score at 1-1.

The Rebelettes quickly regained control in the second. Addison Partin drove in a run with an RBI single, and Kyleigh DeCamp followed with a two-run single to extend the lead to 4-1. Franklin County kept the pressure on in the third, as Courtney Hallenbeck-Wilhoit came through with a two-out RBI single to push the advantage to 5-1.

Lawrence County responded with two runs in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 5-3, but the Rebelettes maintained control the rest of the way.

Franklin County created separation in the sixth inning as Leah Hardison delivered an RBI single and later came around to score on a wild pitch, stretching the lead to 7-3.

The Lady Wildcats threatened in the bottom of the sixth, loading the bases with one out. With momentum starting to build, Victoria Nelson stepped up and shut the door, recording a strikeout and inducing a popout to strand all three runners and preserve the lead.

Nelson remained in control in the seventh, retiring the side in order to secure the win.

Marshall earned the win in the circle for the Rebelettes, pitching four innings with four strikeouts. Nelson followed in relief, tossing three shutout innings with five strikeouts.

With the victory, Franklin County improves to 7-9 overall and 2-1 in district play.

The Rebelettes will return home Thursday to face Giles County High School, with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
