Richard Allen Paton Sr., age 79 of Cowan, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026, at St. Thomas West in Nashville.
Richard spent many years working in residential and commercial construction, auto diesel repair, snow removal, and professional truck driving. He later retired from Rogers Group, Inc. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching races, spending time with his family, and being with his dog, Bob.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Louise Paton; sons, Gary Dale Paton and Richard Allen Paton Jr.; parents, Alex and Mary Paton; brother, David Allen Paton Sr.; nephew, David Allen Paton Jr.; and great-grandson, Stevie Liam David Paton.
Survivors include his children, Mary Elizabeth Paton Teyen, Joy Dawn Smith, and Philip Paton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronald Lee Wilson and Ruth Ann Wagner; and extended family and friends.
Visitation with the family will be held Friday, October 9, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Roy B. Watson Chapel.
