Winchester Utility System Begins Advanced Metering Infrastructure Upgrade Project

Winchester, TN – Winchester Utility System has officially begun its Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Upgrade Project, with contractor crews now working throughout the service area to replace electric and water meters over the coming months.

Residents may begin noticing contractor vehicles and utility crews in neighborhoods as the project gets underway. According to Winchester Utility System, the contractors are authorized to perform the meter replacements on the utility’s behalf and will be working across the service area as installations continue.

Utility officials want customers to know that all contractor vehicles are clearly marked with company identification and will have out-of-state license plates. The utility is encouraging residents to be aware of these authorized crews as they complete the upgrades.

The AMI project is designed to modernize Winchester Utility System’s metering infrastructure, helping improve the efficiency and reliability of utility services for customers in the future. The project will continue over the next several months as crews replace both electric and water meters throughout the community.

Winchester Utility System appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during the upgrade process and thanks customers for their continued support as improvements are made to the utility system.
