FCHS Students Shine in “The Little Mermaid” Production

Franklin County High School, TN – The magic of the stage came to life this weekend as local students delivered a memorable run of The Little Mermaid, captivating audiences across three performances.

Despite a brief delay during the final showing due to technical difficulties, the production team responded quickly, opening the doors to an eager and excited crowd ready to experience the show. Any early hiccups were quickly forgotten as the curtain rose and the performance began.

The atmosphere inside the theater was just as special as what was happening on stage. Children filled the seats dressed as their favorite characters, while parents were transported back to 1989, reliving the story of Ariel and her dream to be “Part of Your World.”

Under the direction of Ms. Katy Elder, the production showcased the incredible dedication and talent of the students. From start to finish, the performance delivered both laughter and emotional moments, with young actors fully embracing their roles and bringing each scene to life.

One of the standout elements of the show was its immersive nature. Cast members frequently stepped off the stage and into the audience, creating a unique and engaging experience that made attendees feel like part of the story. During storm scenes, the theater lights would flash, adding another layer of intensity and realism that pulled the audience even deeper into the performance.

Behind the scenes, the production was supported by a strong network of community sponsors and volunteers. In a message included in the playbill, the cast and crew shared:

“The curtain rises tonight because of the unwavering support of our sponsors. A production of this scale requires more than just rehearsals and creative passion; it requires a community that believes in the power of the arts. We are incredibly fortunate to partner with local businesses and organizations that recognize the value of live theatre. To our season sponsors, community partners and individual donors: thank you for your generosity, your vision, and your commitment to keeping our stage lit. You are the silent cast members behind every scene and every standing ovation.”

With strong performances, community involvement, and a clear passion for the arts, the production proved to be a shining example of local talent and collaboration.
