Franklin County battled throughout Tuesday night’s matchup with Tullahoma, but the Rebels came up short in a 3-0 loss in a game that was far more competitive than the final score might suggest.
On paper, Franklin County matched Tullahoma with eight hits and created several quality scoring opportunities. However, the Rebels were unable to come up with the timely hit when they needed it most. Layton Jones, Ayden Hodosi, and Connor Parker each recorded two hits, while Gavin McBee and Braden Jackson also contributed offensively.

Parker also delivered a strong performance on the mound, working six innings and allowing just two earned runs while striking out five and keeping Franklin County within striking distance all night.
The Rebels consistently put pressure on Tullahoma, leaving multiple runners in scoring position, including a bases-loaded opportunity and another key chance with runners at second and third. But each time Franklin County threatened, Tullahoma starter Ben Quick was able to work out of trouble. Quick finished with 10 strikeouts, many of them coming in critical moments.

A couple of pivotal plays also went against Franklin County. Early in the game, Hodosi was ruled out on a close play at first on a ball that would have tied the game. Later, Braden Jackson drove a ball into the right field corner that was ruled out of play, turning what appeared to be a potential game-tying triple into a ground-rule double and forcing the lead runner to stop at third.

Even late, the Rebels still had a chance. In the bottom of the seventh, Franklin County brought the tying run to the plate in Gus Gardner, but his flyout to right field ended the game.
In the end, it was another example of Franklin County doing enough to stay competitive, but not capitalizing in the biggest moments. Tullahoma made the most of its opportunities, while the Rebels were left to wonder what might have been in a game that remained within reach until the final out.

Franklin County will now look to regroup ahead of Thursday’s road matchup at Shelbyville Central.
