An investigation is ongoing in Coffee County following the death of a one-month-old infant in Manchester.
According to Coffee County Sheriff Chad Partin, deputies and Coffee County EMS responded to a residence on Shelley Road for a report of CPR in progress. When first responders arrived, they found the infant unresponsive. Despite efforts, the child was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities secured the area as investigators, including personnel from the District Attorney’s Office, began examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
During the course of the investigation, officials say the child’s mother, 21-year-old Emaleigh Grace Stafford, was found to have provided false information and tampered with evidence. Stafford has since been taken into custody and is currently being held on a $15,000 bond on charges of filing a false report and tampering with evidence.

Sheriff Partin stated that due to the active and ongoing nature of the investigation, no additional details can be released at this time.
Officials have not indicated whether additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
Authorities are asking anyone with information related to this case to contact the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
