FCHS Rebel Pride Band Delivers Memorable Spring Concert Performance

The Franklin County High School Rebel Pride Band took center stage Thursday, April 9, delivering a night of powerful and engaging performances at their annual Spring Concert.

The evening showcased the full range of talent within the program, featuring the Jazz Band, small ensembles, percussion ensemble, and concert band. Each group brought energy and precision to the stage, highlighting months of preparation and dedication.

One of the standout moments of the night came from a student-led performance, as senior percussionist James Hardin debuted his original composition, “Saltatio Vitae (The Dance of Life).” The piece was performed by Cortland Alonso, Justin Bryant, Marileigh Lewis, and Hardin himself, earning strong praise and applause from the audience. The composition served as both a creative highlight and a reflection of the musical growth within the program.

Throughout the concert, the band demonstrated both technical skill and emotional depth, with selections ranging from jazz standards to patriotic arrangements. During the performance of “Armed Services Medley,” audience members who had served in each branch of the military were invited to stand as their respective song was played, creating a powerful and emotional connection between the performers and the crowd. Other selections like “Amazing Grace” and “America the Beautiful” further resonated with the audience, while “Sousa Spectacular” provided an energetic and fitting finale.

Director Skylar McGee expressed pride in her students following the performance, emphasizing their commitment and work ethic throughout the year. She noted that the group’s success is a direct result of the countless hours spent rehearsing, improving, and striving for excellence.

Behind the scenes, the program is also supported by dedicated parents and volunteers who give their time without pay, driven by their love for the students and the band. Their efforts play a vital role in making events like the Spring Concert possible and helping sustain the program’s continued success.

The concert also marked an important milestone for the program’s graduating seniors, who were recognized for their contributions and leadership. As they prepare for the next chapter, their impact on the Rebel Pride Band was evident throughout the night.

With a strong showing across all ensembles, the Spring Concert served as a celebration of student achievement and a reminder of the continued strength of the Franklin County music program.
