Franklin County Primary Election Set as Early Voting Approaches

WINCHESTER, Tenn. – With the voter registration deadline now passed, Franklin County residents are turning their attention to the next phase of the upcoming primary election, as early voting is set to run from April 15 through April 30 ahead of Election Day on May 5.

Early voting will take place at the Election Commission Office located in the Franklin County Annex Building at 839 Dinah Shore Boulevard in Winchester. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to noon on the two Saturdays during the early voting period.

The Republican primary ballot features five contested races, including a District 3, Seat A matchup between incumbent Scottie Riddle and former County Commissioner James Cantrell. In District 4, Seat A, incumbent Tyler Bauer will face challenges from former Commissioner Greg King and John W. Skidmore. The District 4, Seat B race includes Charles “Chuck” Stines and John M. Ingle, while Tim Wright and Christopher Lee Hobbs will compete for the District 1 constable position.

Several races on the Republican ballot are uncontested, including multiple county commission seats, sheriff, circuit court clerk, county clerk, register of deeds, and select school board and constable positions.

On the Democratic side, all seven candidates are running unopposed, including races for county commission, road commissioner, school board, and constable positions.

Looking ahead to the August 6 general election, a number of independent candidates have also qualified to challenge the primary winners in several key races, including county commission seats, sheriff, trustee, road commissioner, school board, and constable positions.

With multiple contested races and important local positions on the ballot, election officials are encouraging residents to take advantage of early voting and make their voices heard in the upcoming primary.
