May 9, 1938 – March 4, 2026
Marie Hayworth Hill was born May 9, 1938, to the parents of George and Addie Bell Willis Hayworth in Pelham, TN. She departed her earthly home to be with our Lord and Savior March 4, 2026, after a short period of illness. She was a member of Burning Bush OCOG, Belvidere, TN. She returned to Tennessee after living in Eagle River, Alaska for fifty years and frequently returned to Sewanee, TN to assist her sisters during their time of their illness.
Marie received her education at Townsend High School and graduated at the early age of sixteen, she continued her education at Tennessee State University and upon graduating she taught in the Franklin County School System at Towsend High School. She often told her nieces about riding the Greyhound bus to high school. She was a GS11 Civilian for the Department of the Army as an Accountant. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Veterans of Foreign War – Ladies Auxiliary. Marie was an avid reader and enjoyed doing volunteer work after her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Addie Bell Hayworth, siblings Ruth Hayworth, Jewel Reasonover, Ann Ester Johnson, Jo Ellen Smith, Clayton Hayworth, Frank Hayworth and husband Tom Hill (Mr.).
She is survived by her children Carla Jean Hill, Landford Charles Hill and Michael Clifton Hill; four grandchildren Dominique Hill, Rhianna Hill, Sydney Hill and Taylor Hill, several nieces and nephews and a host of cousins.
The family of Marie Hayworth Hill want to give Drucilla Hayworth (niece) special thanks for the loving care that she gave our mom and grandmother during her time of illness. Many thanks to Amedisys (Hospice) and Home Instead (24 hr. sitters).
