Sheriff’s Office Investigates Reported Threat at Decherd Elementary

DECHERD, TN – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says there is no active threat following an incident reported Monday afternoon at Decherd Elementary School.

According to a public service announcement delivered by Public Relations Officer Sgt. Sam Davidson on ESPN Radio Winchester, school officials alerted law enforcement after receiving information regarding a potential threat of violence at the school.

The School Resource Officer and investigators immediately began looking into the report, dedicating what officials described as dozens of man-hours to thoroughly investigate the situation.

Authorities say the investigation was conducted quickly in order to determine the credibility of the information and ensure the safety of students, teachers and staff members.

To provide additional reassurance to parents and school employees, the sheriff’s department said increased security and safety measures will be implemented at the school as a precaution.

Officials emphasized that the department wanted to address the situation publicly to prevent rumors or speculation from spreading within the community.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that the investigation determined there is currently no active threat to students or staff at Decherd Elementary.

The sheriff’s office says it remains committed to working closely with school officials to ensure the continued safety of students and employees across Franklin County Schools.
