Johnny Marshall Boyd, age 90 of Decherd, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026. Marshall was born on April 1, 1935, in the Birchwood Community of Hamilton County to the late James Carson “J.C” and Delia (Dungan) Boyd. He retired after forty years of service with Franklin County Farmers CO-OP as a truck driver. Marshall attended Gum Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church when he was able. He was always looking for his next adventure whether it was a trip to Gatlinburg with his wife or the annual family retreats. Marshall was an avid outdoorsman who could often be found on the golf course, playing horseshoes or working in his garden. But in the late afternoons you could always find him eating a big bowl of Mayfield’s Butter Pecan ice cream or a piece of Coconut Cake. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a very friendly person who was always there willing to lend a helping hand. In addition to his parents, Marshall is preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline Boyd; and siblings, Hubert Boyd, Fred Boyd, Glen Boyd, Clyde Boyd, Gladys Anderson and Lavene Finney. He is survived by his loving children, Michael Boyd and Tammie (Michael) Gilliam; grandchildren, Holly (Nathan) Luechauer, Justin (Amanda) Gilliam, and Kasey (Aaron) Phillips; great-grandchildren, Eli, Lucy, Molly, Olivia, and Cooper; and many nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted Friday, February 27, 2026, at 1:00pm from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
